The Fifth Republic is the fifth and current republican constitution of France, introduced on 4 October 1958. The Fifth Republic emerged from the collapse of the French Fourth Republic, replacing the prior parliamentary government with a semi-presidential system. It is France's third-longest-enduring political regime, after the pre-Revolutionary Ancien Régime and the Third Republic.

It was a republican parliamentary democracy that was created on September 4, 1870 following the collapse of the Empire of Napoleon III in the Franco-Prussian War. It survived until the invasion of France by the German Third Reich in 1940.

The French Fourth Republic was the republican government of France between 1946 and 1958, governed by the fourth republican constitution. It was in many ways a revival of the Third Republic, which was in place before World War II, and suffered many of the same problems. France adopted the constitution of the Fourth Republic on 13 October 1946. As a result, the Fourth Republic collapsed and what some critics considered to be a de facto coup d'état, subsequently legitimized by a referendum on 5 October 1958, led to the establishment of the Fifth Republic in 1959.

Louis XIV (1643-1715) of France is remembered best as a strong-willed monarch who reportedly once exclaimed to his fawning courtiers, "L'etat, c'est moi" (I am the state). Whether or not he really said these words, Louis has been regarded by historians as the typical absolute monarch - a symbol of his
era. Similarly, historians have often referred to this period, when kings dominated their states and waged frequent dynastic wars against one another as an age of absolutism.

Charles I st, said the Great, was born in 742747 or 748, died on 28 January 814 at Aix-la-Chapelle, is the member The most prominent of the Frankish dynasty to which he gave his name as he is not the founder: the Carolingians. Son of Pepin the Short , he is king of the Franks from 768 , by conquest becomes king of the Lombards in 774 and was crowned emperor in Rome by Pope Leo III on 25 December  800 , under a dignity disappeared since the year 476 in West. Military monarch, he expanded his kingdom considerably by a series of military campaigns, particularly against Saxon pagans whose tender has been very difficult and violent (772 - 804), but also against the Lombards in Italy and Muslims from Spain.
Sovereign reformer, anxious to religious orthodoxy and culture, it protects the art and literature and is the source of the “Carolingian Renaissance.” His political work immediately, the empire did not long survive him, however. Conforming to custom estate Germanic Charlemagne from 806 provides sharing of the Empire between his three sonsAfter many adventures, the empire finally split in 843between three of his grandchildren, son (Treaty of Verdun).
The feudal disintegration of the centuries following, then the formation of Europe in the United Nations condemned to impotence rivals those that explicitly attempt to restore the universal empire of Charlemagne, in particular the rulers of the Holy Roman Empire, of Otto I st in 962 to Charles V in the xvi th century, or even Napoleon I er, haunted by the example of the most eminent of the Carolingians.

In Greek mythology, she was a nymph and daughter of Nereus (making her a Nereid), and later became a fountain on the island of Ortygia in Syracuse, Sicily. Syracuse is mentioned in the Bible in the Acts of the Apostles book at 28:12 as Paul stayed there. During Demeter's search for her daughter Persephone, Arethusa entreated Demeter to discontinue her punishment of Sicily for her daughter's disappearance. She told the goddess that while traveling in her stream below the earth, she saw her daughter looking sad as the queen of Hades.
Arethusa occasionally appeared on coins as a young girl with a net in her hair and dolphins around her head. These coins were common around Ortygia, the location in which she ends up after fleeing from Alpheus.

Vercingetorix: (82 BC – 46 BC) was the chieftain of the Arverni tribe, who united the Gauls in an ultimately unsuccessful revolt against Roman forces during the last phase of Julius Caesar's  Gallic Wars. Vercingetorix came to power in 52 BC, when he raised an army and was proclaimed king at Gergovia. He soon established an alliance with other tribes and took control of their combined armies, leading them in Gaul's most significant revolt against Roman power. Vercingetorix surrendered to the Romans after being defeated at the Battle of Alesia in 52 BC, after which he was imprisoned for five years. In 46 he was paraded through Rome as part of Caesar's triumph before being executed. Vercingetorix is primarily known through Caesar's.
